Dundalk vs Molde Free Betting Tips – Europa League 2020

Tripping hazard in Ireland?

It doesn’t happen every year that a club from the Irish Premier League qualifies for a European group stage. In the 2011/12 season, the Shamrock Rovers kicked once in the Europa League. Dundalk first played in this competition three years ago. Now the Lilywhites have done it again and are allowed to test their strengths with Molde FK at the start of the group phase.

Dundalk will be the underdog in every match, apart from Molde, the opponents are Arsenal and Rapid Wien, regardless of whether the match takes place at home in Oriel Park or away in larger arenas. The Irish don’t take themselves so seriously and just want to perform well and maybe annoy the favourites a little.

Moving into the playoffs should remain just a dream for Filippo Giovagnoli’s team. While it is a confirmation for the Irish to play in the Europa League, the Norwegian champions only lost the Champions League in the last round. It is therefore pretty clear that in the duel between Dundalk and Molde, the prediction of the well-known bookmakers is in the direction of guest victory.

The Norwegians may even be ambitious to advance to the next round. Rapid Wien is probably the competitor to be left behind. So you can’t afford to lose points against the supposed underdog from Ireland. This is another reason why we expect committed moose and tend to tip on an away win between Dundalk and Molde.

Dundalk – Statistics & Current Form

Dundalk is still the reigning Irish champions, but getting into the Champions League was utopian for the Lilywhites anyway. The lot meant well with the Irish, because after they were eliminated from the qualification for the premier class, you had to deal with the title winners from Andorra, Moldova and the Faroe Islands in the rounds of the Europa League on the champions path.

Dundalk unbeaten in five games

In the end, the Irish were able to follow this path successfully and are therefore allowed to participate in the group stage of the Europa League for the second time. In the Irish Premier League table, however, things are not looking so good. Third place sounds okay, but the gap to the leaders is already 13 points. The title defense has moved a long way off.

  • “Against Molde, we want to round off a successful week for us.” – Filippo Giovagnoli

However, with five games without a loss, you can’t complain about the current form. Last weekend, coach Filippo Giovagnoli spared some players and still it was enough to win a 2-1 away win at Derry City.

Sean Murray and Jordan Flores were the scorers of the Lilywhites. There are a few troubled players in the Irish champions’ squad, but the bottom line is that nobody is listed as really injured. This means that Dundalk will probably send the best starting XI in the comeback in the Europa League on Thursday.

The probable lineup of Dundalk:
Rogers – Dummigan, Boyle, Cleary, Gannon – Shields, Murray – Duffy, McEleney, Oduwa – Hoban

Coach: Giovagnoli

Last matches from Dundalk:

10/19 2020 Derry City 1 – 2 Dundalk
10/16 2020 Dundalk 0 – 0 Bohemian FC
10/13 2020 Cork City 0 – 2 Dundalk

Molde – Statistics & Current Form

The sting was deep at the Norwegian champions when they had to admit defeat to Ferencvaros Budapest in the Champions League playoffs. There were two duels at eye level, but the moose will now have to get into the Europa League. But now it is important to make the best of it and perhaps to prevail in the group stage.

However, Erling Moe’s team has apparently put away this low point, after two draws and because of the away goals rule, not being allowed to participate in the premier class and has drawn new courage. In the Elite Series, there were two wins afterwards. Because of this, the odds on an away win in the match between Dundalk and Molde should also be interesting.

Molde with a successful dress rehearsal

Molde delivered a very strong match last weekend. Second in the table, admittedly still 16 points behind, was the front runner Bodö Glimt. The league leaders even took the lead, but Magnus Wolff Eikrem (2), Ohi Omoijuanfo and Eirik Hestad turned the game around with their goals within 20 minutes. In the end, there was a 4-2 win.

In this condition, victory at Dundalk should really only be a formality. Molde has shown great morals and even more quality. Therefore there is no reason to make changes to the starting XI. Only the injured right-back Kristoffer Haraldseid will be missing on Thursday.

The probable lineup of Molde:
Linde – Haugen, Björnbak, Gregersen, Pedersen – Aursnes, Hussain – Bolly, Eikrem, Hestad – Omoijuanfo
Coach: Moe

10/17 2020 Molde 4 – 2 Bodö / Glimt

Dundalk vs Molde – Direct comparison / H2H balance

You don’t see Irish teams very often in Europe. As a rule, the teams from the Emerald Isle were quickly eliminated in the qualifying rounds. This year, however, Dundalk has played a few matches, and successfully so, that you can take part in the group stage of the Europa League for the second time. A novelty is a game against the Norwegian champions, because to this day Dundalk and Molde have never faced each other.

Dundalk vs Molde Free Betting Tips

Dundalk is a big player, at least in Irish club football. But that does not mean that the Lilywhites are competitive in international comparison. Filippo Giovagnoli’s team can show a series of five games without defeat, but they never faced a team with the quality of Molde FK.

The Norwegians actually booked their participation in the Champions League but were eliminated on the home stretch. Nevertheless, Erling Moe’s team will now get involved in the Europa League and have left the valley of tears with two wins from the last two games. That’s why we still tend to place a tip on the Norwegians in the match between Dundalk and Molde.

Key facts – Dundalk vs Molde tips

  • Dundalk has not lost in the last five competitive games.
  • Molde recently celebrated two victories, including against the front runner.
  • Dundalk and Molde cross blades for the first time.
