Evil Geniuses vs 100 Thieves Betting Tips ESL One: Road to Rio – Esports

Can the Australians manage the surprise?

On the second day of the ESL One: Road to Rio, Evil Geniuses meets 100 Thieves. The betting odds favor EC. The duel between the current number seven in the world rankings against number nine is a duel between two interesting teams, which have found a good mix of young, cheeky and experienced players.

Both teams should make it to the next round in Group A of the North American tournament. The tournament, like the European one, will be held in a round robin Bo3. The first places in the groups go straight to the semi-finals, while the numbers 2 & 3 of the respective groups compete in the quarter-finals.

The playoffs take place in single elimination Bo3. This is the main difference and means that there can only be one direct climber.

In the group with Cloud9, Gen.G, Orgless and Triumph, the top duel takes place on the second game day. Both teams should make the climb clear, but maybe this duel for the group’s first place will already decide. The games are played online and the tournament serves to qualify for the major in Rio.

The various teams are given the opportunity to collect so-called major points in several regional competitions. The best teams in this ranking will then qualify for the major in November. This is to ensure that the strongest teams in the scene really compete at the end of the year.

Evil Geniuses – Statistics & current form

The American organization decided in 2019 to contract the entire lineup of NRG Esports. Since their signature in September 2019, they have been able to show up many times and have been at the fore in almost all tournaments. The highlights were victories at ESL ONE New York and victories at StarSeries Season 8. They also finished Esports Championship Series 8 and EPICENTER 2019 in third place.

The ESL Pro League, which ended almost two weeks ago, ended in second place and had to be clearly beaten in the final against Liquid. Nevertheless, the final can be considered a success. IGL stanislaw finds a good middle ground to use the individual players as optimally as possible.

Teens AWP CeRq towers

Especially the AWP CeRq has to be emphasized in this lineup. At the young age of 20, the Bulgarian had four years in the professional CS: GO and moved to the then NRG at the end of 2017 to assert himself in the world class. At the end of 2018 – at the IEM Shanghai – he was even voted MVP of the tournament. In his younger years, CeRq had already played 931 maps and had an overall rating of 1.17. However, his performance has declined somewhat since the end of June and he is currently looking for the way back to the top.

Evil Geniuses has played three against Liquid in official matches in the last six games. None of these duels went to EG. On the last day of the group, Liquid prevailed 2-1, they won 2-0 in the upper bracket final and won 3-0 in the final.

It was a depressing series that doesn’t continue for the time being as Liquid is in Group B. Apart from that, the tournament went very well for Evil Geniuses and they won in the group stage against FURAI, MIBR and Swole Patrol. Only on the first matchday you had to give up against 100 Thieves.

On the first day of the ESL One: Road to Rio, EG played against the Orgless team. After an exciting first game on Mirage, the pick of the opponents, you clearly won on Inferno. Especially the 12 laps on the T side were very convincing and gave their competitors no chance. Once again, Brehze in particular managed to show. He led the server in this Bo3 with a positive difference of +13 and a odds of 1.32. EG leads the table in group A after the first match day.

The top rated player at EG is currently Brehze with a odds of 1.13. Tarik and stanislaw have not been able to convince in the past three months. Stanislaw as IGL is still doing well with a rating of 0.93. Only the otherwise so strong Aim Tarik, who has been playing at top level for years, is a little disappointing at the moment. Last year, in the wedding of the Rosters, it was mainly tarik who often convinced with incredible situations and stable performances.

100 Thieves – Statistics & current form

The American organization was founded in late 2017 by Nadeshot, a well-known COD player. Initially, they recorded a Brazilian lineup, which later largely became the new MIBR team. In late 2019, they signed the Australian lineup of the former Renegade. The team around IGL AZR has not yet achieved great success since the signing.

Fifth places in some S-tier tournaments and prize money of around 80,000 US dollars are the balance of last year. The AZR and jks team has been working together since 2015 and joined the rest of the current team at the end of 2018.

100 Thieves climbed to 5th place in the world rankings

100 Thieves has not really got into the game in the last official games. Since the surprising victory against EG in the ESL Pro League, they have lost the three subsequent games. After the defeats against Liquid, MIBR and Furia, they were eliminated in the group stage of the Pro League and said goodbye to the tournament prematurely. At the end of last year, they briefly found themselves in fifth place in the world rankings, which represents the organization’s best rating.

At IEM Katowice 2020, 100 Thieves exceeded many expectations. With victories against TYLOO, Evil Geniuses and mousesports, they surprised against some top teams and only had to surrender against Fnatic in the quarter-finals. This duel went 2-0 for the Swedes, but could hardly have been closer.

Fnatic won both maps in overtime with 19:16 and sent the Australians home.

On the first day of Group A they were surprisingly defeated by Gen.G. After a weak CT half on Mirage, a balanced T half was no longer successful. Gen.G won 16:10 on both Mirage and Dust2 and thus deservedly secured the first points.

The Australians have to be careful not to lose the connection to the top of the group after just two matchdays. In the duel 100 Thieves against Evil Geniuses, the odds for potential bets shifted further towards the Americans after the end of the first day of play.

Team Roster:

Coach: Kassad
Players: AZR, jks, jkaem, Liazz, Gratisfaction

Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves Direct comparison

In the direct duel between the two teams, Evil Geniuses is clearly ahead. If you believe the statistics of past duels between Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves, the odds for the tip are too small. The Americans won a total of 23 of the 32 games.

Due to the geographical proximity of the two organizations, the duel takes place very frequently. Interestingly, however, it was exactly the last two encounters in which 100 Thieves was ahead. The duel in the ESL Pro League as well as in the IEM Katowice went to the Australians.

These maps are in focus

Evil Geniuses acts Overpass as their first spell and has decided against this map. They pick very differently and have selected a wide variety of maps, from Vertigo to Inferno and Nuke. With win odds of 75 and 67 percent, Train and Nuke are their strongest maps.

100 Thieves has also deleted Overpass from the map pool and likes to peck Vertigo. The winning rates of 60% on Nuke and Vertigo are their best. On Mirage, they couldn’t win any of their five duels at all. Their statistics on Train and Inferno are also weak. All in all, the Australian Map Pool seems very weak and not very broad.

Both teams have decided against Overpass, furthermore an encounter on Mirage is impossible. A duel on Nuke would be conceivable, possibly EG Inferno pecks. Vertigo is well conceivable as a decision maker.
