In a direct duel against relegation, Verona and Genoa will face each other on Monday, December 4th. The match closes the fifteenth round of the Italian Championship in its 2017/2018 season. It will be held from 18h (Brasília time) at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi stadium in Verona.

Verona’s recent performance

The home side managed to break a five-game losing streak the day before. They beat Sassuolo 2-0 as visitors. Their success was further enhanced by circumstances. French defender Thomas Heurtaux (11 games in the 2017/2018 Italian Championship without a goal) was sent off in the 22nd minute of the final stage leaving his team with one less. Even so, Verona managed to maintain the advantage of two goals on the scoreboard.
They went up to nine points (two wins, three draws and nine defeats) in the standings. Still insufficient for them to leave the relegation zone. They occupy the nineteenth (penultimate) rank.
However, they clearly had a moral gain with the unexpected result against Sassuolo. This can be confirmed with a 1-1 draw on Wednesday, November 29, also as a visitor to Chievo by the Italian Cup. After holding the ninth place in the Italian Championship, Verona took the best in penalties and continued the competition.
Coached by coach Fabio Pecchia, he has three doubts about the duel this Monday. They are in the medical department the defenders Alex Ferrari (five games, without goal) and Nicolo Cherubin (without performances); and midfielder Mattia Zaccagni (six games without a goal). The problems in defense, of course, are the most worrying since Heurtaux, absolute holder, is suspended.

The current form of Genoa

The situation in Genoa is only slightly better. The team managed to stay out of the relegation zone at the end of the previous round by drawing home at home to powerful Rome. It was 1 to 1.
Equality, however, although it may be considered acceptable before a much stronger rival technically, has had disputes. Especially because the team played with one more athlete (De Rossi, of the Romans, was sent off) from the 25 minutes of the second half.
The criticisms were not even greater because Genoa had beaten Crotone 1-0 away from home to reach ten points (two wins, four draws and eight losses) to take them to seventeenth place , the first outside the sticking region.
Bulgarian striker Andrey Galabinov (nine matches in the 2017/2018 Italian Championship, two goals) is the great doubt of coach Davide Ballardini for Monday’s game. He suffered a thigh injury that got him out of the last match and relies on further tests to see if he will be released to face Verona. Also in the ward is the defender Francesco Migliore (a game, no goal).

History of the matches between Verona and Genoa

Never a team that acted as a visitor got the best in the duel. In 15 meetings since 2002, however, the tie was the most frequent result. It happened eight times. Verona have two successes and Genoa have won five times.

Low offensive production is a characteristic of both clubs. Both scored only 12 goals in 14 matches. They appear in the third worst ranking in this ranking. Defense has also been a problem, especially for Verona, which was leaked 29 times. Only Benevento, who have lost all 14 games, have conceded more goals (34).
This situation should make homeowners more cautious about exposing themselves, even if they need the victory to leave the relegation zone. Thus, the draw ends up appearing as a good guess. It has a price of 3.40 in Rivalo. Victory of the principal yields 3.30 and the visitor pays 2.15 per invested real.
